Jeff Cox Student Venture

Hi all you prayer warriors,

I have a quick prayer request…Today, I am sharing the Gospel with the JV girls basketball team at Greenway. I did a motivational talk yesterday to their team and offered them a chance to have some free food and hear about how to develop the spiritual side of their lives and get involved in Student Venture. Would you please pray for me to be bold and clear as I present the Gospel and that the girls would feel comfortable with the whole thing and want to get involved in knowing our great God!

Also, I have 3 girls from the varsity team who are already involved with SV who I am asking to lead an essentials group (follow up discipleship) with any of the JV girls who respond. So please pray for them as well, their names are: Demi, Tara and Miranda.

Thanks for all you do, a prayer letter is on the way soon with more exciting news about our winter conference and students leading students.

Jeff and Tammy Cox prayer update

Howdy,

Thanks so much for your prayers over the past few weeks. We have seen some great things happening so I wanted to give you a short report!

Caleb and Brian started their group for the wrestlers and 8 guys are coming. It is going great and Caleb and Brian are good leaders.

Ben’s group has grown from 2 guys to 9 guys so please keep praying!

Raquel and Ashley’s group is going great and they have 8 coming as well!

Elizabeth and Jordan’s group is faltering because most of the girls are not consistent and they are not really applying what they are learning. Please pray for them!

Candace tried to start her group but had a bunch of no shows last week. Please pray for her group to begin and have the right people there.

Mike’s group is still going strong but the guys need to make decisions about Jesus so please pray that Mike would be able to make the issue clear with them and that they would choose Jesus!

Tomorrow (Tuesday) Oscar will speak to the girls JV soccer team and invite them to an outreach on Wednesday after practice! Please pray for Oscar to do a good job with his motivational talk and that the girls would really like it and want to come to the outreach.

Sjoukje is on the soccer team and will be sharing the Gospel with her team mates and Julie on the varsity team will be sharing her testimony.

Julie and Sjoukje will be leading the follow up study each week after practice.

Thanks so much for your prayers and support!

Jeff and TAmmy Cox Student Venture

Dear Prayer Warrior,

As I write this update I am actually sick with a head cold so I am forced to slow down long enough to give you a much overdue glimpse of what God has been doing the last few weeks!

Last week we did a team talk for the freshman wrestlers and then an outreach the following day. There were 8 boys present and Caleb, one of our disciples, shared the Gospel with the others on his team. He did a great job and 1 boy received Christ (Michael)! Please pray for Caleb as he leads a follow up study with these guys!

We are also starting to see new groups form that are all student led!!! This is what we have dreamed about! Please pray for the following students who are leading their own groups.

Elizabeth and Jordan @ Sunrise Mt. High School and 6 girls in their group!

Raquel and Ashley @ Greenway High School and 6 girls in their group!

Caleb and Brian @ Greenway High School and the 5 guys in their wrestlers group!

Ben @ Greenway High School and the 2 guys in his group (Adrian and Alex)

Mike @ Glendale Community College and the 7 guys he leads on Friday afternoon

Please pray for the following students who are attempting to start their groups as well…

James and Sjoukje (pronounced: Showkia) @ Greenway High School

Tyler and Ryan @ Greenway High School JV Basketball teammates

Candace @ North High School with 4 of her friends

Demi and Tara @ Greenway High School Varsity girl’s basketball team

Please pray for the following students who had groups this fall but because of sports season changes their groups are not meeting right now…They are trying to re-start them.

Tyler, Austin, Caleb, Ethan and Harrison

Please pray for the Mike Racin (PR: Raichin) and his guys that he is leading…He gives a very good description below and he asked me to have you pray fervently for these guys that he is attempting to lead to the Lord.

Well here are the people who consistently meet me for lunch on Fridays.

  • Austin- He's the one who has been asking some very awesome questions and he has been really honest.  This is the guy who I want to lead the group.  I think he believes in Marxism, that society created religion to keep society in tact.  He's finally really starting to open up about what he believes and all.  He's still skeptical, but I know something big is going to happen with him.

  • Phonee- He's a consistent guy, and he has some weird beliefs.  I don't know if he has a clear understanding of what Christianity is yet or he understands anything about the religion, but he's been consistently coming, so I hope to have him learn things about the religion.

  • Josh- He's been coming very consistently.  I hope to him into a deeper level of discipleship.  He is the one who is struggling with the stuff that I soon hope to confront him about it, and get him help.  If in time, he can get rid of some of the things that are hindering his Christianity, and can totally experience his grace and become "real" in his face, I seriously think he can  be leading these Bible studies when I am not around.

We have two who came once who are really close friends to each other, and I really trying to get them back:

  • James- This guy is seriously my freaking hero.  He's been through so much crap at home with his family, I am amazed that he holds on the way he does.  He's really close to his friends, and pretty much his friends are his family.  I really want to him to know that Christ and that love that he is desperately looking for.  I mean this guy is so cool, and when your in his presence, he makes you crack up so hard.  He is one of those guys if he becomes Christian, he will be totally legit in his faith and I know he would become so on-fire for God.  He's my hero because no matter what life throws at him, he's still standing.  He's a warrior.

  • Ryan- Him and James are really tight.  I don't know exactly his beliefs, but at the discussion he said that he believes in God and that he is Christian.  I don't know though if he exactly has the right conception on God and Christianity.  But he's a really cool guy with a really good heart, and I want to see how he responds to God.

I also want to get another guy or two from their group of friends. Their names are Tyler, Eagy, and Jared.  I think Tyler needs to just get the right concept of God and I think he can go really far.

I have guy named Manny who I think will start coming Friday, I just need to remind him to come, and I think because of his school schedule, that he can consistently come.  I have no idea his beliefs at all, and I really want to dive deeper into that with him and find more about it.

We also have Frank, who I am going to invite him to come this Friday.  He's the guy who I invited to church last Sunday.  He's a really awesome guy and he is very outgoing person, at least he's really up for new things.  I think he use to go to a Catholic mass when he was in a different math.  I think it would be so cool to see this guy saved because he is such an awesome guy.  This is one of those guys if you with, there is no way you are not going to have a good time with.

There is also two other guys I want to come, but there school schedule interferes with the meeting times.  That is why in the future, I might consider moving it to Saturday mornings, but I am not sure if that will work.  But there names are:

  • Alan: He is a really cool guy.  I think he use to go to a Romanian church when he is younger.  He goes for Easter and Christmas I think, but that's it.  I'm not sure he is full understanding of who Christ is, but I he is a very influential person in our group of friends, they listen to him a lot.  He might be the truly leader in our group of friends.  He is a very opinionated person, so I think he will be really open in the group discussions, and I think he would thrive during them.

  • Kevin: I think he might be athiest I am not sure.  He has some strong political beliefs, and I don't know if he has ever been to church before.

Also there is guy named Excy, can you pray that God will work somehow in schedule to have work around the times that we meet.

So there's all the guys.  If I forgot one, I will let you know.

I know this is a lot to ask you to pray for but it is really just the tip of the proverbial iceberg! Thanks for standing with us in the battle. Oh, and of course, please be praying for revival for the Christian kids and spiritual awakening for the non-Christian kids.

God Bless you all,

Prayer Update from Jeff and Tammy Cox student venture

Hey Guys,

I am so sorry that it has taken me more than a week to get back to you on all that God is doing but it is because He is doing so much I have not had a spare minute to compose my thoughts. So far we have had over 55 students come for training to begin their own outreach/multiplication groups and we have 6 groups started and hopefully more will start in the next 2-3 weeks. I stopped to add up the total number of students we are discipling per week and it is about 190 so far, so you can see why we have not had the time to report!

I have been meeting with the student’s everyday both lunches except Wednesday and we are ready to challenge them to step out in faith and begin to invite others to their groups. They have been leading but not inviting new people as much. Please pray for them to be bold and also for them to catch the vision of rapidly multiplying their faith like rabbits.

I will also be taking the freshman football guys to an archery tournament on Oct. 20th so please pray that they will have a great time and will bond more to each other so we can keep them involved!

On October 13th we are trying something new…we will be hosting a baptism celebration for the new Christian students and for their families. We hope to offer an opportunity for the parents to begin a small group in their homes with their families and some others they know who would be interested in talking about God. Please pray that the students would come and obey Christ’s command to be baptized and follow him fully and also that we will be able to minister to their families and help them come to know the Lord!

Lastly, please join us in praising God that Oscar and Candis have moved to Phoenix and today was Oscar’s first day of training on campus. We had a great time and God do some great things.

Thanks so much for your prayers and support; we can’t do this without you!!!

Jeff and Tammy Cox Student Venture Prayer Update

OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD!

Thanks so much for praying for the freshman football follow up groups today! The student leaders did a great job teaching their peers and the guys seemed to really enjoy learning about how to have assurance and acceptance in their relationship with God!!! There were 32 guys there which is amazing because that is 75% of the team.

God is doing some amazing things among these young people. Two weeks ago we challenged our students to multiply and now we have 6 new groups formed and several more will begin in the next week or so!

We also have a student at Sunrise Mountain High School who is starting her own group in the next week which could spread to many more groups on that campus so please pray for her as well. He name is Elizabeth!

Thanks again for your prayers and support; you are a vital partner with us in all that God is doing!

FW: Jeff Cox Prayers Answered!!!

WOW, I Mean WOW!!!

God showed up in a big way and used our feeble attempt to share the Good News to the freshman football team!  Thanks so much for praying with us for this event!

Every player on the team came and we had pizza, Capri-sun juice drinks, we played a game called, “Sit down if….” And then Ethan said something like, “If you kissed your mom goodbye this morning”!

Ethan shared his story of how God came into his life last year and encouraged the guys to do the same. Ben shared the “Knowing God Personally” flip chart with the team and gave them an opportunity to trust Jesus Christ!

Are you ready for this?....And eighteen (18) young men gave their lives to God today!!!!

Here are some of their comments:

“Recently I’ve been dealing with a lot of personal problems and having trouble reaching God, but I think this may be the answer to my prayers!”  Michael

“I do have questions about this. I’ve never really been into religion. My parents never did it so I didn’t. I am interested in this. I have a lot of questions.” Kolt

“Coach Cox, I was like you, I almost did kill myself. But God sent me an angel and she saved me so I am in debt to the Lord” Conner

“I had a good time, I truly believe in Jesus and would like to know more” Jordan

“I thought it was good. I would like to do this more than once a week but it’s all good!”  James

“I was just like Coach Cox, I get girl friends, I’m starting on the football team and a lot of people like me but for some reason I am depressed.”  Alex

Thanks again for standing in the gap with us to reach these boys!

FW: Jeff Cox prayer request and update

Howdy,

We wanted to let you in on something amazing that God is doing in and through our students! A couple of weeks ago we began to challenge our students to not just share their faith but begin to multiply their faith into others they know! We told them that elephants produce one offspring every 2 years but that rabbits are fertile every 30 days and can reproduce 12-15 young each month. We told them we want you to be like rabbits…spiritually speaking of course!

What this means is…that they need to disciple others who will in turn disciple others who will disciple others and so on until the entire campus is saturated with the Gospel of Jesus Christ! This is nothing new to our Student Venture movement but what is new is that the students are responding in a supernatural way!

In the last 2 weeks we have begun to train and demonstrate to students how to multiply their faith very rapidly like a rabbit reproduces it’s young through a curriculum from Campus Crusade called Essentials. The students are very eager to lead their own groups now. Our goal is that there would be at least 50 new student led groups by the end of May 2008. We are training 6 different groups of students numbering 39 students during lunch! If each of those students starts their own groups plus the 6 we started that would be 45 groups right there so the potential is amazing!

Mike Rachin has already started a group with 4 of his non-Christian friends to investigate who Jesus really is and they met Friday, September 14th at 1pm. He said it went well and they are meeting again next week! Please pray for him as he leads his friends that they would discover Jesus and put their faith in him and begin to multiply!

This Tuesday at 4pm 5 freshman boys from the football team will lead their own Essentials follow up studies with the 18 boys who received Christ at the outreach last Tuesday! Please pray for these young men to be full of the Holy Spirit and that the others will grow and begin to lead their own groups as well. Their names are Austin, Tyler, Harrison, Caleb and Ethan!

Well, that’s all for now! I need to take a nap J

Student Venture Jeff Cox Amazing Testimony

I thought you might like to read a short testimony from a girl (Julie) who was led the Jesus this year by one of our student leaders. They are both freshman and it is an amazing story of the Grace of God. I know you will enjoy it! Thanks so much for investing in the lives of these young people and for your prayers!

Hey!

Well my mother was raised as a catholic, and my father really had no religion at all. Having being adopted and my closest non related sibling across the country I really never had someone to turn to. Growing up I had the Christian beliefs and had talked to God some, but not on a regular basis. When I was in eighth grade I had hit my all time low. With scars on my body and soul, I cried myself to sleep many nights wondering if I was ever good enough for life. Having smoked cigarettes and getting drunk at parties over the year and even doing it going into my first year of high school I knew that I was soon headed for disaster. However a light turned on into my soul the day I met Stacey Spann. We only had one class together, and although it was never enough she always managed to reassure me that God was there, Always. With her welcoming words and teachings God soon began to pull me towards him. I was hesitant at first because I still wanted to continue drinking & smoking. I know what you’re thinking. How dumb can she be, a young teenage girl drinking and smoking just to be cool? Wrong, I always drank and lit up by myself. I never wanted people to see me as I truly was. For the first time in my life I found someone who made me feel beautiful from the outside in. His name was Josh Stewart and to be honest, I had fallen in love with him. And God was the last thing on my mind. However every great thing must come to an end. And once again, I continued to sin. My first day at FCA/Student Venture Club, I asked myself WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING HERE!? These people know everything there is to know about The Lord, and all I know is he died on a cross. November 7, 2006 I had finally accepted Christ as my savior and lord. Everyday after that I could absolutely feel God rushing through my veins every single second of every single day. It was amazing. The first verse I really understood was John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, Jesus Christ, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life. I am glad to let you know it was a horrible journey, but since that day I don’t cuss, take things to my body, drink, or smoke. One night while I was praying to our Heavenly Father I looked back on all my hard times then times when I needed God the most, and asked him why he wasn’t there. And I could hear him say, Dear child I carried you on my back. I cried when I witnessed those 16 people get baptized, including some of our own. Lately I helped a friend to Christ, just like Stacey did to me. I helped him realize that God is there for us every single day; it is just up to us to finally see him. Now I know what she lives for, God. And I’m proud to know that God shines through each and every one of us. God is my lord and savior.

Prayer Update Wrestling Team Jeff Cox

Thanks so much for praying!!!

There are 15 students on the Freshman/JV wrestling team and we had 9 of those students at the outreach. It was a student led outreach and Anthony Jones, a Senior shared his testimony and the Gospel with the guys. Three (3) of those guys indicated that they asked Jesus to be their Lord and Savior so please rejoice with us in this miracle!!!

Please pray for the 3 – Joey, Michael and Joseph

Please pray for the others as we try to disciple them to reproduce their faith with everyone they know and meet for the rest of their lives. The other names are: Jorgen, Zach A., Zach P., Michael A., Jeremiah and Anthony.

Thanks again for going before us in prayer and for cleaning up after us too!

Prayer update from The Coxes of Student Venture.

Howdy Prayer Warriors,

It has really been a great week!!! On Tuesday, our leadership students challenged the other 50 students to go out at lunch time during our regular meetings and in groups of 2, share their faith using a “Connecting with God” booklet. Well, they did it and the results have been wonderful and life changing. Here are just 2 emails I received from our students:

Hey coach,

The outreach went really well. I think that was a great idea.

And during 6th hour I gave my friend, Sidney G, a Connecting with God booklet and I let her keep it and read it. I wasn’t able to really talk about it with her yet though because we were in class but I am really looking forward to talking to her about it because she really seems interested. I think she is going through some hard times right now and I would love to get through to her because I have learned that Jesus can help all of the problems in people's lives and I know she could use that right now.

I will keep you updated with her.

Britt L.

Hey Coach,

It's Chris. Demi and I went out during lunch on Tuesday, it was great. The first person we saw was someone I knew from last year... His name is Jordan R. He's a really nice kid, and went to church every once and a while, but wasn't really living it... So when we went through the booklet he knew about some of the stuff... and described himself as the middle circle, so he decided to pray with us... It was really cool. So, he's really interested in our group, so I'm going to keep reminding him until Tuesday.

Thanks for everything you do Coach; I'll see you Monday....

-Chris

Yesterday, I (Jeff) was given the opportunity to speak to the Wrestling team and it went very well. I spoke about the ingredients of a champion and invited the wrestlers to a free pizza dinner to learn how to develop as a total athlete, growing in all areas of life, physically, mentally and SPIRITUALLY!

Please pray for the outreach today which is at 5:30pm at one of the senior wrestlers homes who is one of my disciples. We will be sharing the Gospel with those who show up and most of them will be freshman and sophomores.

Thanks so much for all you do, we would not be able to do these things without your prayers and support.

Prayer and praise update from the Coxes of Student Venture

Acts 5:42 (NLT)
42 And every day, in the Temple and in their homes, they continued to teach and preach this message: "The Messiah you are looking for is Jesus."

It has been an amazing couple of weeks as I get to watch our students boldly take the message and give it away to their friends at school. Two Monday’s ago, John Williams called me and said that a friend had called him in a suicidal state of mind and John simply shared the Gospel with him and he committed his life to Jesus right there over the phone.

Last Wednesday, Chris White called me and said that he asked a friend named Rebecca if he could show her a booklet called, “Connecting with God” and she said yes. So after school he too shared the Gospel and she committed her life to the Lord as well.

That same day, Mike Rachin called me during lunch and asked if he should use the “Connecting with God” booklet to share with his friend at lunch and I said yes. He reported that his friend too had received Christ! Mike also has single handedly called the other students to early Morning Prayer at the schools flagpole on Wednesdays at 8:35am. The first 4 weeks he stood alone at the pole praying for his school but now after 3 months there are over 20 others joining him!

There are about 10 other stories like this I could tell you if there was time but please praise God with me that these students are walking with God and actively sharing their faith.

Please pray for next Tuesday, December 5th as the students will be going in pairs at lunch time to share their faith with anyone who will listen. This is a bold move and has never happened like this in an organized fashion. It is a direct result of having an on Campus club and your prayers! Pray that they will be bold but sensitive and kind and that many will come to the Lord.

Thanks so much for your partnership in the Gospel,

Jeff and Tammy Cox

Please read this amazing poem

I don’t usually forward email to you because I value your time and our partnership in the Gospel but I felt this was one time that I must send this on in hopes that it touches you as deeply as it has touched me.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving,

Jeff

Well worth the length, and even a tad convicting, as tears well up in your eyes....

(I actually read it several times -- its simply pure genius!)

A Different Christmas Poem

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.
My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.
Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.
The sparkling lights in the tree I believe,
Completed the magic that was Christmas Eve.
My eyelids were heavy, my breathing was deep,
Secure and surrounded by love I would sleep.
In perfect contentment, or so it would seem,
So I slumbered, perhaps I started to dream.

The sound wasn't loud, and it wasn't too near,
But I opened my eyes when it tickled my ear.
Perhaps just a cough, I didn't quite know, Then the
sure squeak of footsteps outside in the snow.
My soul gave a tremble, I struggled to hear,
And I crept to the door just to see who was near.
Standing out in the cold and the dark of the night,
A lone figure stood, his face weary and tight.

A soldier, I puzzled, some twenty years old,
Perhaps a Marine, huddled here in the cold.
Alone in the dark, he looked up and smiled,
Standing watch over me, and my wife and my child.
"What are you doing?" I asked without fear,
"Come in this moment, it's freezing out there!
Put down your pack, brush the snow from your sleeve,
You should be at home, on a cold Christmas Eve!"

For barely a moment I saw his eyes shift,
Away from the cold and the snow blown in drifts..
To the window that danced with a warm fire's light
Then he sighed and he said "Its really all right,
I'm out here by choice. I'm here every night."

"It's my duty to stand at the front of the line,
That separates you from the darkest of times.
No one had to ask or beg or implore me,
I'm proud to stand here like my fathers before me.
My Gramps died at 'Pearl on a day in December,"
Then he sighed, "That's a Christmas 'Gram always remembers."
My dad stood his watch in the jungles of 'Nam',
And now it is my turn and so, here I am.
I've not seen my own son in more than a while,
But my wife sends me pictures, he's sure got her smile.

Then he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag,
The red, white, and blue... an American flag.
I can live through the cold and the being alone,
Away from my family, my house and my home.
I can stand at my post through the rain and the sleet,
I can sleep in a foxhole with little to eat.
I can carry the weight of killing another,
Or lay down my life with my sister and brother..
Who stand at the front against any and all,
To ensure for all time that this flag will not fall."

"So go back inside," he said, "harbor no fright,
Your family is waiting and I'll be all right."
"But isn't there something I can do, at the least,
"Give you money," I asked, "or prepare you a feast?
It seems all too little for all that you've done,
For being away from your wife and your son."

Then his eye welled a tear that held no regret,
"Just tell us you love us, and never forget.
To fight for our rights back at home while we're gone,
To stand your own watch, no matter how long.
For when we come home, either standing or dead,
To know you remember we fought and we bled.
Is payment enough, and with that we will trust,
That we mattered to you as you mattered to us."

PLEASE, would you do me the kind favor of sending this to as many people as you can? Christmas will be coming soon and some credit is due to our U.S servicemen and women for our being able to celebrate these festivities.

Let's try in this small way to re-pay a tiny bit of what we owe. Make people stop and think of our heroes, living and dead, who sacrificed themselves for us.

To recall that liberals such as Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi vote against making it a crime to desecrate the U.S. flag.

And then to quote this poem:

“he bent and he carefully pulled from his bag, the red, white, and blue... an American flag.”

Kind of makes you wonder how many voters had erroneously cast ballots for liberal candidates this year—and then, upon learning how completely out of sync they are with our hearts & minds, must gnash their teeth at night; “What have I done!”

Student Venture prayer update and requests from Jeff and Tammy Cox

Hi Faithful Ministry Partners,

It was an exciting and rewarding week!!! We saw 2 young men received Christ and one who re-dedicated his life to the Lord as well! Please praise God with me for these young ones and for the gift of salvation.

Please pray for Justin and Derek who are new to the Lord. Pray for Ben as he is a student who will be following up on Derek. Ben invited Derek to the FCA/Student Venture Club last Tuesday and it was outreach day and Derek became a Christian as the students shared how to know Christ personally. I will be following up on Justin who is a sophomore I met after school on Tuesday and he was very eager to know the Lord as well.

I had the privilege to teach 6 freshman boys in my Bible Study how to share their faith using a “Connecting with God” booklet and they all made a plan to share it with one person before next week. Please pray for these young men to be bold and to put their trust in the Lord to help them communicate the most important message in the world!

Thanks for all your prayers and support; we could not do this important work without you beside us!

Exciting News from the Coxes of Student Venture of Phoenix

This is a testimony from a girl named Tara who is in our ministry at Greenway High School. She has a beautiful spirit and a strong desire to share her faith as you will see when you read her story of what happened just 2 days ago on October 23rd when she shared her faith with Alex, her friend!

May God be praised for His faithfulness and Grace,

Jeff and Tammy

Student Venture of Phoenix

Sharing my faith with Alex’s brother, Sean, was kind of hard But with Alex…it was one of the smoothest talks I have ever had with another person about Christ and my faith.  It started with an easy question, we were on the topic of death, or something and he had asked me, “Do you think they miss you up there?” So I went into detail and told him, well yea, for example, “sure my grandma misses me, she was only with me for a year, and I never really got the chance to know her, and to have the time I would have wanted with her…so yeah, she misses me, and yes, my Father (God) wants me to be with him, but not now, not yet, for my time will come…” something like that…then he said, “well what about me, do you think he wants me up there with him as much as you Tara when I die?”

“Oh yes I told him” interrupting, Alex didn’t believe me that He loved him as much as me. I went on “…yes Alex, for God loved the world so much that He gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not be lost, but have eternal life”

I think the word “eternal” stuck and made him think.  Then more questions came about, and he wanted answers. I never knew Alex was so open and wanted to know so much more about life and its meaning, but I was happy for I was the “chosen” one. I know God used me.

We went on, one question lead to another, and I was telling him that because I accepted the Lord into my heart, I am promised eternal live, and will someday live with Him, and other friends and family in Heaven.  He liked the idea, and wanted to see me also in Heaven.  But at first, Alex did not believe me that the Lord loved him “as much” as me.  I went into telling him that God loves all of us, unconditionally…and such.  Then Alex kind of switched topics on me and asked me about church, and what one I go to, and what kind of things I do at my church.  I told him it was a good question, because we’re learning Revelation right now, and I was telling him about some things I have learned, some things that will happen in the end time.

I really think by then, that was more then enough for him to make the right decision and asked to be saved. As I ran to get my bible for the right prayer and I found the booklet from Student Venture about connecting with God, my heart was pounding! J I was SO happy!  Within moments Alex was saved.

I told him he would be in my prayers, along with Sean, and to not fear if he feels as if he was being attacked? “What do you mean” he asked? I told him, when I was first saved at winter camp, I came home with many evil things to greet me.  My mom and dad were NOT getting along.  My older Brother almost DIDN’T recover from his car accident.  Friendships were fading. And I felt so alone when it came to people on earth.  No matter how many times others told me “just stay strong…love God…because he loves you…” I wasn’t feeling it here…on earth. The thoughts of suicide ran by and by.  I couldn’t stop them.  Later I learned it was Satan attacking me because I was a child of God.  Don’t fear I told him again.  Ill be here whenever, I’ll help you, answer questions or just to talk with you.  And if you have questions I CANT answer, we’ll find them together…I told him. And then I had to go…

Prayer Update Student Venture Football Outreach

We believe in the power of prayer and we also believe that being specific in our prayers is very strategic to winning the battle for the souls of young people. So we are asking you to pray for these football players by name. Please pray that they would be good soil and that the seed of the Gospel that was planted in them this week will bring forth eternal fruit from this day forward. Please pray that they would have and intimate walk with the Lord and that God would give us the wisdom to lead them and teach them to follow Him with all of their hearts for the rest of their lives.

Please pray that God would protect them from their enemies which are the world, the flesh and Satan! Pray that they would share their faith with their friends and that they would begin to lead their own discipleship groups of their peers.

Thanks so much for you prayers, here is the list of names!

Important Prayer requests from Student Venture of Arizona

Wow,

School is off with a bang…4 fights in as many days last week just at Greenway alone. Please pray for God’s peace to reign at school and that the believers would step out in faith and share the Good News of Jesus with these students.

On Thursday, September 7th we will be at Grand Canyon University to recruit college students to volunteer and intern with us this year. Please pray that the Lord would bring our way, many interested students who would love the chance to be campus missionaries with us this year!

Next Tuesday the 12th we start our FCA/Student Venture club meetings during lunch at Greenway. Please pray that the student leaders would really take charge this year and make this club their own. Also pray that the students would follow their lead to emphasize our 4 main priorities which are: Prayer, God’s Word, Evangelism and Discipleship!

On September 26th, we will be doing an evangelistic outreach to the frosh football team that I coach at Greenway. Please pray that the Gospel would be presented clearly, that our student leaders would pitch in and lead, that many would attend and that many would turn their lives over to Jesus!

See, I told you that this year is off with a bang…Our students also handed out 1,277 evangelistic dvd’s at registration this year!  We are still hearing good things about that outreach! Thanks for praying!!!

Minneapolis Student Needs Prayer

-----Original Message-----

Subject: Prayer Request

This is from one of my team-mates who work’s in the southern part of
Minneapolis with Student Venture.  Please lift this high school up in
your prayers!  Thanks!  Rob

Jeff Larson has been a student with us in Student Venture for 3
years.  He loves Jesus and his friends dearly. He shares Jesus eagerly
& radiates Jesus' love.  All the students love him.  Jeff & friends
have been in Bible studies with Rob in past 3 years.  Jeff knows the
Bible well.  Since birth, Jeff has had 45 corrective surgeries.

He is always joyful & encouraging.

Early this morning, Jeff's dad heard Jeff gurgling, looked in & saw
that Jeff was having seizure.  Jeff had never had a seizure before.
Mike called 911, ambulance there quickly, on way to ER, Jeff had
cardiac arrest, 45 minutes of CPR, then put on life support.  Now
breathing & heart functioning ok but no neurological response, no
acknowledgement of parents, doctors, etc.  First 24 hours recovery is
very critical.

Please pray for God's healing grace, doctors' wisdom & peace for his
parents family & friends.

Urgent Prayer update

We are currently in Lubbock…BUT…and that’s a BIG BUT, we still haven’t sold our house in Orlando. That is weighing heavily on us. We can’t do anything until that gets sold. We are with my parents right now, but not sure how long we can stay this way. All of our stuff is still in Orlando and we need it to sell ASAP. Please pray.

We just got back from our new Tech Cru Staff Retreat in Ruidoso, NM. It was great to get to know our new team and we know this is going to be a great fit for us.

Yesterday, Brynn fainted and had a seizure right as Christine was starting to do home school. It was terrifying and she thought Brynn had died. She couldn’t get her mouth open to do CPR and Brynn started turning blue. Christine was frantic and scared. She called 911 and came back to the room where Brynn was sitting up, awake and white as a sheet. The ambulance came and took Christine and Brynn to the Children’s Hospital here in Lubbock. By the time I got to the hospital, Brynn looked beautiful and Christine looked exhausted and scared.

They did an EEG and CAT scan and both came back normal. At the end of the day, they checked her vitals lying down, then sitting up, then standing up. Her blood pressure went up 15 points between lying down and standing up. This caused them to lean more toward her fainting and having a seizure rather than having an Epileptic Seizure…which is a good thing. We decided that we would take her home rather than keep her at the hospital over the weekend, with no guarantee that we would get a good team to do the MRI or other tests.

What a relief! Please keep us in your prayers as we are going full blast with Texas Tech, Homeless, living out of a suitcase, needing to raise support and unsure of how our future will play out, trying to home school, My Dad has kidney stone surgery on Monday, my Mom has been sick with some sort of stomach bug, Brynn’s seizure, and a million other things clamoring for our attention. We know that God works all things for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purposes, yet all of these things wear us down. We need his strength and focus and purpose more than ever.

Please pray for our marriage. That God would guard us against isolation. That our house would sell quickly; that we could find the perfect house for us; for health of mom, dad, Brynn, and all; for healthy financial support and special support to help us with moving expenses and transition to Lubbock…and anything else that comes to mind. We need your prayers desperately.

God Bless,

Prayer Update from Jeff and Tammy Cox Student Venture of Phoenix

Well, the DVD distribution at Greenway is done and the final count is 1,277 students took DVD’s and many have already viewed them and given us feedback. Most of the comments were very positive and the people were very thankful that we gave them a free gift from the FCA/Student Venture Club.

We are so grateful to you for your prayers on our behalf. It was obvious that the Lord had prepared the way for us all along! Please continue to pray that the DVD’s would be viewed by many and that many would come to know the Lord as a result.

Here is one comment I received from a sophomore boy…”Hey Mr. and Mrs. Cox, when I got the DVD today on Friday I went home and watched it. It was so amazing to see famous athletes like the ones featured in the video to have faith in God! It was such a cool video with the skateboarders and the shredders! I am going to show my friend this DVD and see what he thinks! Thanks for passing them out!!!! Hope to see you soon!!!! Derek

Here is another comment from one of our leadership girls who the Lord used to share with her brother…”O my gosh!!

Guess what? I have seen now that God has given me the opportunity more then once to allow me to share with my brother His wonders. Today was the 3rd time…to be exact…today my brother and  I were playing around…and he had said something like…”I wish I could just die”…well it was just after my dad had yelled at him and I about something. So he said “wish I could just die now”…I told him, “yes as much as I would love to be with Jesus playing ball…I am not done working for Him yet…I can see it now…a blast in heaven.” “Heaven, you know I’m going to Hell.” He replied. I told him he didn’t have to….we got into it...and later on I started allowing him to have the chance to pray with me…and…he DID!!!

I was so happy! But, it’s not over… WOW I FEEL SO FAB!!”-Tara

As you can see, your prayers are being answered in wonderful ways and that God can use teens to be powerful and bold witnesses for Him.

God Bless you,

Jeff and Tammy

P.S. Please keep praying for opportunities to hand out these DVD’s at Sunrise Mountain High School, Deer Valley High School, Moon Valley High School and Liberty High School

Prayer Update from Student Venture

Wow,

The last 3 days have been amazing! The students have handed out 990 DVD’s to their peers at Greenway High School. We have already begun to hear students say that they have watched the DVD’s and are really impressed with the quality and content. One girl said it made her cry as she listened to one of the testimonies from a model who used acid and many other drugs to try and kill her pain. We have one more day tomorrow and we hope to hand out at least another 300.

Please keep praying and trusting the Lord with us. We are also seeking an open door to hand these out to students from Deer Valley and Sunrise Mountain.

Thanks so much for your faithful prayers!

Prayer Update from Student Venture

Thanks so much for praying about the DVD distribution at Greenway today!  We gave out a little more than 300 DVD’s and only had about 20 people turn us down. We will back again tomorrow thru Friday to do the same thing again. The students who helped in the distribution did a great job taking the initiative to go up to students and offer them the DVD’s!

Please keep praying!!!

Important Prayer Request Jeff Cox Student Venture

Wow,

Can you believe that school starts again two and a half weeks! We are very excited because we have a chance to give every student at Greenway High School and evangelistic extreme sports DVD at registration. That is why we are asking you to commit to pray for this outreach from now until August 4th, which is the last day of registration.

We obtained permission from the administration to hand out these videos during the four days of registration, please praise God with us that He opened the door for the Gospel to go out. We are also seeking permission to hand these free DVD’s out at Deer Valley High School and Sunrise Mountain High School. Please pray for God to grant us favor in the eyes of the administrations of both of these High Schools.

Pray that every student at Greenway would take the free DVD.

Pray that every student would take it home and watch it all the way through.

Pray that every student would hear and understand the Gospel presentation.

Pray that every student would accept Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.

Pray that every student would call us to find out how to grow in their relationship with God and join FCA and Student Venture.

Pray that we would be able to get them involved in a local Church.

Ultrasound - fluid in the brain

Please pray for my wife's brother who is pregnant with twins. They went in today to have an ultrasound to determine the sex of the babies. They are both boys. Baby A looks great, but the ultrasound appears to indicate that Baby B has fluid in the brain (enlarged head). They go to a specialist tomorrow to find out how they predict this will affect the baby. Please pray for a few things: peace, perspective, health of both babies, healing, that the whole thing was misdiagnosed and that all would actually be fine, clear answers, etc. They meet with the specialist tomorrow (Wed) at 2:30 pm E.S.T.

The Clarks Bring New Life!

I have never prayed more in my life as I have the last few weeks.  It has also been the best.  My wife, Erin, and I (Brian) had a beautiful baby boy, Brett Joshua Clark.  He is 6 pounds, 6 ounces, 21 inches long and was named after a young man that gave his life for his country and lived a life of faith and character, Brett Hershey, Roger and Roxanne Hershey's son.
I am mad in love with Erin, instantly adore my new son and find Jesus closer still in the midst of this beautiful change.  My prayer life was normal before Brett but now I have the privilege to take Brett in my arms a few times a day and the only thing I get to do is pray!
The verse of the day for me is Matthew 18:20.  "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."  That verse is inked into our basement wall along with the other Topical Memory System verses I am memorizing with some guys.  I was holding Brett in my arms while in prayer recognizing that two are gathered and God is with us each and every time we are snuggling and in prayer together.  Did I mention life doesn't get much better and my wife is my hero and Jesus is my King?!  It is true.  Thanks for your prayers for us as we are so grateful for a healthy boy and as we transition into this new phase of life after a decade of ministry without kids!

Prayers for Philly

Praise God for ongoing connections at our primary school Morrisville High School.  Last Week I sat on a panel for the JR high students.  It was hosted by the JR class president who is a disciple of mine.  Of the nine member panel 6 were Christians, and we were able to talk openly with the entire Jr High about our faith!

  • Philly Venture a project with the Campus metro team here in Philly will be held form June 7 through July 7th.
  • Pray for classrooms to speak in during our first two weeks of our summer project with the campus ministry.
  • Pray for more students to join our project right now we have 7 and 5 staff.
  • Especially pray for guys to join the project.
  • Pray for scheduling of outreaches to be run during the project.
Thanks for your prayers.

In Christ,

Atlanta North Fulton Fellowship Dinner

Please be in prayer for our fellowship dinner that is being held next Friday, April 21st. There are a lot of conflicts with many of the parents we have invited. Please pray that in spite of these conflicts God would bring those who need to be there. Pray that it would be an encouraging and challenging evening for those who attend. Also, please pray that things would run smoothly and that God would be glorified throughout the evening. Thank you.

Stay the Course

Lord, we pray that you would give spiritual encouragement and
determination to those who signed up to pray during our 40 day 24/7
prayer experience. Let them finish well. At the same time, we pray
that this would only be the beginning of a movement of prayer and
spiritual renewal. Send the winnowing fork of your Spirit into our
midst, and blow the chaff away. We want to see you more clearly in
these days ahead. Speak, and have your way in us. In Jesus Name,
Amen.

Venture Corps prayer requests

Hi,
Thanks for your prayers for Venture Corps.  Here are some things to pray about this week:

1.  Pray that we will have a great response to the email we sent out a week ago encouraging last minute applicants for our Summer Venture projects.  A number of people have emailed us with questions; pray that many will apply today.

2.  Pray for continued progress on the online database.  Once this is completed, we will be able to sow more broadly on the internet than ever before.  And we'll be able to give the staff a structured easy way to track with those who have expressed interest in Student Venture.  Pray that it will be completed ASAP.

3.  Pray for people to continue to apply for internships.

4.  Pray that God will raise up quality students for all the summer projects.  Pray specifically for more guys for Myrtle Beach and New York City, more guys and girls for the Getaway Project and more girls and one more guy for the Daytona Beach Project.

Thanks for praying!

Yours for more laborers reaching more teenagers for Christ,

Warren

It went awesome-thanks for praying

Evyn and Cory, the two college students that spoke this morning did a great job speaking to FCS. About 8 students want further training in reaching their friends, so the college students and I will meet with them next Tues. Also, the meeting with the principal was FANTASTIC. He is a strong Christian and courageously and wisely shares his faith. He really wants to work with the churches, college students from Malone (SV) and other community members to help middle school students to learn more about the Lord. He asked for prayer for wisdom, though, b/c he knows some people will have questions or won't like it. He recognizes he can't be the one directing these things but will be supportive. He wants to meet again w/local youth pastors, SV/college students, and the Christian guidance counselor to talk more about helping teens.
Thanks so much to all who prayed. Please continue to pray for more laborers to be coached in this community in Green, Ohio and in communities all over the US and world! Pray also for faculty members who are believers to be unashamed of the gospel so we can work together.

Gratefully, Shawn B

Coaching Prayer Requests from Shawn B

Tomorrow (4/7/06) some college students from Malone college and I will meet with the principal of a local middle school to share with him how we would like to be a resource to the school (I know it is late in the year but these students want to be coached). He is a Christian so it should go fine but please pray-it is his first year as principal. I am nervous too. Smile.

The college students are also speaking to the Fellowship of Christian Students group to try to find Christians who want to reach their friends.

These students are just freshmen and were over committed when I met them in February. Please pray they would finish the next few weeks well academically, spiritually and in ministry. Pray God would lead them to be coached again in the fall and that they'd recruit others, if it is His will for them.

We hope to do an outreach with the freshmen girls track team before the college students have finals in 3 weeks so there is quite a bit to do. One of the girls is doing a great job on a talk she will give. Please pray they'd manage their time well and I would encourage them .

Please also pray for a sophomore high school girl, Meg, who lives in upstate NY. I am her "coach". Tonight she will encourage her friends in the Bible club to do an Easter survey that leads into the gospel with friends. They will do the surveys next week before Easter. Pray they have great discussions about the gospel. I am also helping she and her club members plan an outreach. It is called Ultimate Frisbee Ultimate Summer and will be sometime in early June. Please pray for adult help, a speaker, and much lasting fruit in their lives and in the lives of lost friends. Meg is very excited and talking about who she can invite from her Most Wanted and otherwise. Fun!

Pray for SV Executive Getaway

Please keep praying for Student Venture's Executive Getaway, taking place June 22-25 in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Right now is the critical time for people to decide to come.

  • Pray that our Host Team members and our staff who have invited people will be faithful to call these people back and give them the personal encouragement they need to decide to come.

  • Pray that the Lord will raise up 50 or 60 guest couples, who will come and make substantial financial investments in our mission.

  • Ask the Lord to provide all the staff and other workers we need to man all the critical areas: Program, administration, guest relations, Kids Conference, teens.

  • Pray for the Executive Getaway planning team as they attend to all these details: Chuck Klein, Chuck Wallace, Scott Stroven, Mike Crandall, Lee Cooksey, Dan Lee.

Venture Corps Prayer Requests

Hi,
Thanks for praying  for laborers and Venture Corps related requests.  Please pray for the following:

1.  An email went out this morning making one last plug for our domestic summer projects.  Pray that this email will be read and that God will lead many potential recruits to apply for and go on one of our summer projects.

2.  Praise God for the recent staff applications we have received for this summer.  Since the official deadline (April 1st) for summer staff applicants has now passed, pray that God will raise up many intern applicants in the next couple of months.  (We've actually had significantly more staff applicants than interns, which is unusual.)

3.  We are making progress on the database.  Pray that this will continue at a good rate and that we'll be able to release this to be used by all our staff ASAP.  (When we can all use it, it will make a huge difference in how effectively we can track with recruits.)

Thanks for praying!

Pray for Baseball team meeting

Please pray for a Baseball team meeting. It has been rescheduled 3 times. All three coaches are in favor of the team meeting but canceled practices, team schedule changes, and speaker schedule conflicts have all stood in the way of this.

Pray for a team

Please pray for two women we had just visit our city, Jael Hacker and Ashley Weakland. They are praying about coming as interns to minister with us. They both have barriers to joining us as SV interns and only God can remove them. For I have no other hope for a team than the Lord send them here. If God leads these women in a different direction than SV, please pray against the discouragement that will come at me.

God’s best for you all,

Scott DeBruyne

Neighborhood Outreach

Please pray for a neighborhood outreach book study that I have initiated with the young moms in our neighborhood.  We are supposed to have our introductory meeting tonight and I am encountering various obstacles with this happening.  Please pray that everyone who has said they are interested will participate, and please pray that I will have wisdom and perseverance in getting this started.  Please especially pray for tonight; I have been communicating with most of these moms by e-mail and I don't know if they have checked their e-mail and I don't have all of their phone numbers.  Please pray that God will use this to further His kingdom and bring glory to Himself. I want to see God work in an awesome way.

Thanks,

Nancy Wallace

Venture Corps Prayer Requests

Hi,
Thanks for praying for Venture Corps today and all week long.

1.  Praise God for the late surge of applicants for our U.S. Summer Projects.  We've seen a number of late applicants in the last week.  Continue to pray that God will provide more men for all the projects and women for Virginia Beach and Daytona Beach.

2.  Pray specifically for the Getaway project.  We have seen only 2-3 applicants for this and it's a great opportunity to get a SV experience and to fill a great need.  Pray for 6-8 more qualified applicants.

3.  Pray for recruits who are considering helping at one of our Getaways.  Pray that God will raise up tons of college students and other recruits to experience the Getaways with us.

4.  Pray for a late surge of applicants for summer staff training.  Pray specifically for Kevin Blake and his fiance.

Thanks for praying with us!

Yours for more laborers reaching more teenagers for Christ,

Prayer for SV Outreach in Albania!

Hey everyone.
Greetings from Tirana, Albania! The Lord is really moving here. I just heard
about 40 College students who accepted Jesus through a recent outreach
through Campus here in Tirana. Praise God!

Please pray for SV here.. They have a huge outreach tomorrow (saturday March
25th) at 10:30 A.M. Albania Time (4:30 A.M. EST). They were able to invite
up to 500 students to this outreach.....It has been somewhat of a difficult
year for the staff here b/c for the last 12 months, they haven't been
allowed to set foot on campus. Just imagine how tough that would be! But,
God is answering prayer and through an American mission team this week and
other divine appointments, SV was allowed once again on campus and able to
invite students. Praise God! Please pray for Csaba Balkus (Hungarian
director for SV) as he leads the ministry, and pray for spiritual protection
from the Lord for the outreach, and that many students would trust in
Christ.

in His grace,
Jeremy

Dave Mikesell Prayer Request

I wanted to alert you that Dave Mikesell's father passed away Tuesday of this week.  He accidentally fell from his walker hitting his head on the door breaking his neck.  Fortunately Dave was there when his dad passed away later in the hospital but pray for Dave and his family as they grieve the loss of their father.  The funeral is in Colorado on Monday.  Dave's dad was a believer.

SV MPD Prayer Requests

Student Venture MPD

We are well aware that job 1 in Student Venture is recruiting.  Our top priority is manpower.  But we can go through all the effort it takes to woo potential workers to join us, including completing the application process and being accepted, only to come up empty handed because for numerous possible reasons the person stalls out in the MPD process.  So pray for our new staff and interns who are raising their initial support.

In addition to this, to what extent are our senior staff and interns who are now on the field hindered in their ministry fruitfulness because of support concerns and financial distractions caused by inadequate support?  Pray for our senior staff and interns who are on the field.

In light of these things pray for our ministry in the whole area of staff and intern MPD.

Some specific areas to pray for:

1. For wise allocation of leadership and attention to staff and intern MPD coaching/supervision on the local, regional, and national levels.

2. For our New Staff and interns who are currently raising their initial support and for their coaches.  Pray for the coaches to have wisdom and resources to help those they are coaching stay in the game.

East Asia prayer request

Hello-
Please pray for our teachers as they share a video in their classes
tomorrow. (Friday afternoon 3:20 p.m. here, Fri. 1:20 a.m. central standard
time there) This video is on the Temple of Heaven, but it shares about The
One True God and encourages people to seek truth.

I realize that most people will be sleeping, but if you could pray before
you go to bed and for those of you night owls-- pray during the time. We
appreciate you.

Please pray for:
*Protection while the video is being shown. Pray for blind eyes by those who
would be opposed to this video. There is much at stake.
*Students would have a sense that their country once worshipped the One True
God and to seek truth.
*God would use this video to bring glory to Himself.
*Pray that the administration would view this favorably.

It is a privilege to lock arms with you. Thank you for standing with us.

Answered Prayer from Wayne & Janet Beich

God has been doing some amazing things since Janet and I have been getting up early each morning to pray.  It seems like the first thing He always needs to work on is our own hearts.  It is not that we haven't seen the Lord do amazing things this past year, but we have gone though a lot of changes where we have had to battle discouragement.  We have seen 3 staff people leave our team and laid off our wonderful Administrative assistant and watched another staff person deal (with joy) with chemotherapy.  We entered the 40 days of prayer with real doubts about the future and the double mindedness and uncertainty that goes with it.  What is the use of going on?

On the second or third day I read a parable from Luke 13:6-9 that really seemed to describe how I was feeling.

Then he told this parable:  "A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any.  So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, 'For three years now I've been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found any.  Cut it down!

 Why

should it use up the soil?'

"'Sir,' the man replied, 'leave it alone for one more year, and I'll dig around it and fertilize it.  If it bears fruit next year, fine!  If not, then cut it down.'"

That is how I felt.  I think I am just using up financial contributions!

But, it seemed like God might be saying, you let me worry about the

long-

term future.  Your job for the next year is dig and to fertilize and I'll take care of the fruit side of things.

Then a couple days later, a letter arrived from one of our supporters who gives a special gift now and then.  I had met him 30 years ago when I was a college student on a CCC summer project in Lake Tahoe.  He was a junior high student that I had the chance to share Christ with.  It was a dramatic encounter that changed both of our lives.  He eventually came to Christ and it influenced my coming on staff with the high school ministry.  He is now a foot Doctor and felt prompted to catch up on his financial giving.  He has had trouble being consistent with his support so he came up with the plan of sending me 12 post-dated checks and my job would be to drop one in the mail every month.  When I opened the envelope my jaw dropped as I stood there looking at 12 $500 checks!

It was like God was saying, "Yes, this is Me talking to you!  I can get your attention anytime I want to (though it costs me a little more in your

case)

and I want you to dig and to fertilize for this next season and watch what I do!"  So every month as I mail the check (on the 1st of the month!) I am going to be asking, "Ok Lord, what do you want me to dig (get rid of or turn upside down in my life or in our ministry) and what do you want me to fertilize (invest in).  Next year at this time I am hoping to be looking at some figs!

Oklahoma Catalytic Prayer

Dear Friends,

Thanks for your prayers! From the Dallas Winter Conference there are now 19 students pursuing Student Venture ministry in the area. Through our partnership with the Campus Catalytic Team we are seeing college students actively engaged with area high schoolers. Last week I met with a principal in a new location and he was very interested in having us come to the school.

Please pray for the college students to grow in their faith, be trained to reach out effectively to the high school students and desire to come join us on staff. Pray for me as I direct the teams here and raise money. Thanks!

VC Prayer Requests

Hi,
Thanks for praying for Venture Corps and our recruiting related requests.  Here are some for this week:

1.  Pray for interested students to apply TODAY for our domestic summer projects (New York, Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach, Daytona Beach, Orlando Summer Project, Getaway Program Project).  We have lots of great students already accepted but room for lots more and we're running out of time to be able to accept them.

2.  Pray for applicants for our summer training for new staff.  Pray that everyone who needs to be there for this summer's training would get their application and other materials in within the next 2-3 weeks.  Pray that God will raise up many new "free agents" who can help bolster SV teams around the country by filling critical roles.

3.  Pray that we will be able to get our database online and accessible to all our staff to use in tracking recruits.  Pray for Joe King (our developer) to have/make the time to work on it and finish it.

Thanks so much!!

Prayers for Philadelphia

Thank you all so much for your commitment to pray for our ministries.  Student Venture of Philadelphia needs your prayers!  Pray for me as I lead our team.  Last year we had a staff, intern and volunteer team of 10 people this year we are greatly cut back from that number.  We have only 6 direct field workers and all but John Karaker and myself are untrained college volunteers.  I have greatly cut back my direct ministry in order to be able to more effectively address the need to rebuild a team of full time workers here in Phily and throughout the north East region in general.

So here are some critical prayer requests for our team...

  • Wisdom in decision making process about the future direction of Philly's ministry.
  • Clear vision and direction for the student side of the ministry.
  • Pray that God would bless our staff who have moved on to other ministry opportunities.
  • Ask God to give me open doors to connect with the local campus ministries in the area in order to be able to recruit their students.
  • Pray that i can formulate a clear picture of how to partner with local churches in light of our manpower issues.
  • Pray for us to experience movement.
  • Pray that God would open doors to the campus, we have very little access at several of our schools in the area.

Prayer Requests

PhoenixJeff Cox and Kirstin Ward - doing some pioneering work at a local College campus for recruiting workers for the harvest. It is a new approach. Please pray for wisdom, energy, lots of contact with college students. We don’t know what to do yet, but we are praying and going expecting the Lord to work on our behalf at ASU West!

Jacksonville:  Ken VenselPray for full time staff, for our city support, and for Ken as he continues to mourn his mother's death.

PhiladelphiaBrad Daubenspeck - Please pray for our Philly Venture project (Summer Project partnership with the Philly Metro Campus Ministry).  Three big needs to pray for are - for Students to register for the project (right now we have only two registrations in hand), for contacts to recruit from the campus ministry (I am working on campus visits especially a visit to Western PA at the end of March), and we are working on scheduling of project activities and outreaches etc.

North Fulton ATL:  Darren Youngstrom

  • Girls' Night out for all area girls.  Outreach on March 9th
  • Harrison High school recovering and dealing with the death of a student in car accident.
Middle school retreat to Tennessee March 17-19
  • Fellowship Dinner Fund Raiser April 21
  • Sophomores at Milton High School...making poor moral choices
  • Our own personal walks with God, that our ministry would be an overflow of our walk with God.
  • Weekly meetings and Small groups
  • More staff for North Fulton-Particularly at Milton HS.
  • Tim and Nick - Two guys under Jeremy who are using drugs
  • Meredith and Jenine - 2 girls under Shannon.  Meredith is seeking, wants to tell Jenine about faith.
  • Kyle-Student at Chattahoochee who's friend accepted Christ at Fastbreak. That Kyle would also understand.
  • Tory Dale and Scott Schweitzer-recently accepted Christ, that they would get plugged in and grow in their faith.
  • That students on leadership teams would really catch the vision for reaching their campus.

NE / IA:  Gary & Cherry Warrick - Please pray for Andy & Robyn Petersen, current SV Interns, who are in now applying to be full-time staff with SV.  Pray that God would bless, protect, and prepare them as they work through this process, and that He would provide the financial support needed for New Staff Training.

Please pray for several of our students, including our son, Lance, and a former SV student, Amber, who are now applying for the Russia International Project this summer... that God would prepare them and provide for them and that this would be an impetus for more of our students to go on projects in future years.

Please pray for our contacts with a number of what we call "street kids" in one of our communities.  They are involved in much "at risk" behavior, and many are from dysfunctional backgrounds, but some are opening up to us and to the gospel.  Please pray that some would have such a transformational life change through Christ that they would have a huge impact for Christ on others trapped in this lifestyle.

Please pray for the provision of more volunteer or intern help for this summer and the next school year as Andy and Robyn will be taking time off for New Staff Training and MPD, and our other intern, Wade, will be getting his Master's Degree and currently plans to shift to another ministry focus.

Cincinnati:  Rick Bush - Pray for Daniel McKee (staff).  He had his wisdom teeth pulled on Thursday and his jaw is still numb (which is unusual).  Dr. says the feeling should come back (not permanent) but it's impossible to say how long it could take.  We have creative outreaches for both guys and girls this weekend.

Twin Cities:  Steve Huerd - Effective follow up from Piper Down concert last Friday night and great response to our Golf fundraiser in April with our Twin Cities CCC ministries.

Kevin Young wants to encourage you to carve 30 minutes a day out for the next 40 days to pray for our ministry - from March 1st (Ash Wednesday) and concluding on Easter Sunday (roughly 40 days).

Please find a prayer partner today – your spouse, someone you want to have as a spouse, fellow staff member, personal supporter, a student from your ministry, a parent, someone local, or someone you can pray over the phone with – anyone.  Just go to the website: http://tinyurl.com/bktx3 to register.  Have your prayer partner independently register at the site as well.  (You may need to send them the web address.)

Just pick the time that is most convenient for you, where you can consistently pray.

I know you have a full schedule already and 30 minutes every day for the next 40 days is a tough commitment, but let’s all do this together and believe that the Lord will respond!

Praying with you (from 1:30pm-2:00pm),

Surgery

Our daughter, Katelyn, was re-admitted to Children's Medical this afternoon with vein and artery complications. She has been in pain most of the week in the groin area where the procedure originated. Tomorrow (Friday) at 10am she will be placed under full anesthesia and the Dr. will attempt to correct the problem. The original issue (Patent Ductus Arteriosis) was successfully corrected. This is just an unexpected complication that has resulted from the entry point of  that surgery. Again your prayers are appreciated and needed.
Thankful for your friendship and support,

VC prayer requests

Thanks for praying for our recruiting efforts!  Please pray for the following:

1.  Pray for our domestic and international summer projects to fill up with college students seriously considering youth ministry after graduation.  Currently we have a relatively small number of really (seemingly) qualified upperclassmen who have been accepted along with a few pretty sharp sophomores.  Some of the projects are further along than others but all of them still have spots for our top recruits, our former students (as well as any other top recruits we met at the Campus Christmas/Winter Conference or any other place).

2.  We only have one applicant for our Getaway project.  This project would be such a service to the three Getaways and a great recruiting tool at the same time.  Pray that God will raise up 8-12 people with the right combination of skills to be able to run the program at each of our 3 national Getaways.

3.  We have accepted only 1 student so far for our Daytona Beach project (out of 2 applicants).  This project has great potential and is a partnership with the Mid-South region.  Pray that God would raise up upperclassmen from this region who have a strong heart for youth ministry to be a part of the project.

4.  The Myrtle Beach and Virginia Beach projects have had more interest, with some quality students being accepted, but we have room for roughly twice the number of students that we have accepted so far.  Pray that God keeps the applications coming ASAP.

5.  The New York City project is again attracting a lot of attention and has already accepted 10 students, all women, for their project.  Pray that God will raise up some men who have a heart for the City to be a part of this project, in addition to any more women that need to be there.

6.  Pray for the follow up of students from our recruiting trip to Liberty University.  Pray that many of the students will get involved with us this summer in a variety of ways from attending Getaways to going on a summer project.  Pray specifically that God will raise up several staff from this group by summer '07, if not earlier.

Thanks for partnering with us to ask God to "send out workers into His harvest field"!  It will be exciting to see what He does with all this.

Yours for reaching teenagers for Christ,

Warren

Venture Corps Requests

Hi,
Here are a few things to be praying about for Venture Corps:
1.  Pray for our recruiting efforts at the Fusion Conference in Orlando this coming weekend.  The conference is for people looking for how they can get involved in ministry in some way.

2.  Pray for recruits to begin applying for staff for this summer.  We had a great group come on in January.  It would be awesome to follow that with another strong class this summer.

3.  Please pray for our former students and other top recruits to apply for our summer projects, both domestic and international.  We've got lots of great projects with room for lots of recruits.  Pray that God will lead the right ones to apply ASAP.

4.  Pray that God will open up Joe King's schedule so that he could finish getting our database online and accessible to all our staff to use.  What a HUGE impact this could have on our recruiting efforts!!  Please pray!

Thanks for your prayers for this critical area.  "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it."

staff powerfully, and breathes life into them, filling them with faith
and new ideas for reaching more students.

VC Prayer Requests

Hi everyone,
Here are some requests that I'd love for you to pray about on Tuesday and all week long:

1.  Pray for students to apply for our Summer Venture projects.  We have spots available on all of them and most of them are completely wide open (maybe 1 or 2 applicants).  I know that there are students involved in Cru at many schools around the country who would love to be a part of one of our projects.  We just need to pray that God will lead them to us, very quickly!!!

2.  Pray for Joe King, our database developer, to have some time open up in his schedule so he can finish our database and get it available online ASAP.  Pray that he'll be able to finish his work for his other clients so he can get back to ours and get it done.

3.  Pray for Brett Durham and Jami Resh as they travel to Liberty University this week to speak in Youth Ministry and other classes about SV.  Pray that God will lead them to the students who would be a great fit and asset to this ministry.

4.  Pray for the Life Options conference in Atlanta February 17-19 and the Fusion Conference in Orlando February 24, 25.  Pray that God will lead many people to these two conferences who He is leading to work with us.

Thanks for your prayers!

Venture Corps Prayer Requests

Hi,
Thanks for praying for the following recruiting requests:

1.  Pray for one of our top recruits, Holly, and her fiance' as they seek the Lord about whether SV is what God has for them.

2.  Pray for all the contacts from the Passion conference as our staff follow up with them.  Pray that we would be able to connect with them and that God would lead many of them to work with us.

3.  Pray for our 4 Summer Venture projects in New York City, Myrtle Beach, Virginia Beach and Daytona Beach.  Pray that God would fill each of these projects with upperclassmen who really are strongly considering youth ministry after they graduate and are just trying to discern the specific ministry that God has for them.  Pray that God will lead many of them to join us.  The next application deadline is February 1 so pray we get a rush of applicants.

4.  Pray for Howard Crutsinger and Joe King as they continue to work on getting our database online.  This will make it tons easier for you to track the recruits in your area and for many of them to come on staff.  Pray that God will free up some time for Joe ASAP to give the last little bit of time needed to get this project (at least phase one) finished.

5.  Praise God for a great mid year class of new staff.  Now let's pray that God brings in one of the biggest and best summer classes we've ever seen.

Thanks so much for your prayers!

Oklahoma Catalytic Prayer

Dear Friends,

Thanks for your prayers as I work alongside the existing Catalytic Team to start SV ministries. This week, I met with Steven and Gordy from SWOSU and they have already assembled a team of 11 other students to start the ministry at Weatherford High School. We went over to the school and prayed for the Lord to raise up a movement for Jesus within the school. Ironically, that very night we met a student leader, Carson, who wants to be involved and his dad is on the school board. Please pray for Steven and Gordy as they give direction to our new ministry! Thanks so much.

VC Requests

Hi,
Today is Tuesday, the day that many of you have agreed to fast and pray for laborers to join us.  Please pray for the following requests for VC:

*We've just finished a huge season of recruiting at the Campus Ministry Christmas conferences.  Pray that God will continue the work that He started in the lives of college students who attended one of our seminars or who visited our booth.  Pray that those students who need to have a SV experience with us will take the next step with us and apply for a summer project, or volunteer with their local SV team, or go to a SV city for a vision trip.

*We just got a list of 144 contacts from the Passion conference who want more information about Student Venture.  Pray that we'll be able to get in touch with each of these people and help them take the next step toward involvement with us.  Pray that many of them will be involved in a SV summer project or a Getaway this summer.

*Praise God for the great group of new staff that are going through their training right now.  This group of 10 is the largest January class that we've had in many years.  Pray that God will raise their support quickly and get them to their assignment.

*Pray for the completion of our online database.  Imagine having 300 people who express interest in SV in your area and the challenge of trying to stay in contact with and involve them when you only know 100 of them (or even if you knew all of them!).  Having easy access to up to date info on who is interested and who is not would help tremendously in our attempt to track with our most interested people.  So getting this database finished and online is all about people joining our staff, not about software, or the internet, or technology.  When everyone is able to start using the database regularly to connect and track with people, I believe that we will see an immediate jump in our manpower numbers.  So please pray diligently!!

Thanks for your prayers!!

Yours for more laborers reaching more teenagers for Christ,

Recruiting Prayer Requests

Hi,
We've just come from one of our biggest recruiting seasons of the entire year:  7 Campus Crusade Christmas/Winter conferences and the Passion Conference with almost 30,000 students combined.  We have many, many good contacts from these conferences that now need to be followed up, invited to FastBreaks, shown the ministry, challenged to consider one of the SV domestic or international summer projects, etc.

Please pray that God would keep the interest level high for those students that need to be involved with our ministry.  Pray that many will come to one of our FastBreaks and that the conference would give them the kind of experience with us that makes them want to get more involved.

Pray that many will apply to go on a summer project.  Pray that some from each conference would end up joining our staff this summer.  Pray that we would be diligent to get back in touch with the students we met at the conferences.

We have a great group of New Staff in Daytona Beach right now. . .the biggest Winter group that we've had in a long time.  Pray that the summer "class" would be the largest, highest quality summer group we've had in many, many years.

Thanks for your prayers!

Gary Warrick-hospital stay

Friday I'm scheduled for Prostate surgery. I'd appreciate your prayers. It's benign, and it only requires a one night stay in the hospital, so it shouldn't be too bad. But, of course, I'm not exactly looking forward to it.
Thanks... Gary

VC Prayer Requests

Hi,
Please pray for several recruiting prayer requests:

1.  Pray for our recruiting that is currently happening at the Passion Conference in Nashville, TN with over 15,000 college students and recent graduates.  Pray for Brett Durham and his team to meet with many that God has prepared to work with SV who are there.  This conference runs January 2-5.

2.  Pray for our recruiting at the Denver and Dallas Winter Conferences.  There are approximately 3,500 college students at these two conferences.  At the Denver conference they are showing a video promoting the idea of college students reaching out to high school students through Campus Crusade.  Pray for a great response and for Eric Wolf, Tom Bridges and our other staff there to connect meaningfully with those students who need to join our team.

3.  Pray for the students that we met last week at the San Diego, Twin Cities, Atlanta, Indianapolis and Greensboro Christmas Conferences.  Pray for God to continue working in their heart, keeping the idea of working with teenagers in their mind, not allowing them to forget about the conversations that they had last week with our staff and some of our former SV students who were at the conferences.  Pray that God raises up staff from each of these conferences to join with us this summer.

4.  Thank you for your prayers for the work being done our our national database.  Incredible progress has been made but we're not done yet.  The work that has been done would normally cost many thousands of dollars (15-25) but we have paid only a few hundred.  Pray that we will be able to finish this work and get it online and accessible very soon.

Thanks so much for praying for each of these requests.  You can also pray for our 10 new staff going through January New Staff Training right now.  Each of them are an answer to our prayers.

Venture Corps Prayer Requests

Hi,
Please pray for the following Venture Corps requests:
1.  Pray for our recruiting efforts that start next week at the Campus Ministry Christmas and Winter conferences where there will be over 10,000 college students.  Pray that the conferences are very powerful in the lives of the students and that God leads us to the students whose hearts He has prepared to work with us.

2.  Pray for our recruiting efforts at the Passion Conference in Nashville, TN January 2-5.  There will be over 15,000 students at this one conference.  Pray for tremendous fruit in our recruiting.  Pray specifically for Brett Durham, Sarah Wood and Darren Youngstrom who will be representing SV there.

3.  Thank you for your prayers for the development of our online database.  This past week Howard Crutsinger and Joe King have worked 16-18 hour days making great progress on (in Howard's words) transforming Howard's database which was a "Pinto" into a "Hummer".  It's a huge upgrade but it's not finished yet so please keep praying.  It's like we now have a Hummer, but it doesn't have any wheels or a steering wheel. . .pretty cool but it doesn't work yet.  Pray for supernatural progress when they continue their work later this week.  This database will ultimately allow us to track our recruits far more effectively.

4.  Pray that God will move in the hearts of seniors graduating this month who we have been tracking with.  Pray that He will direct them clearly to join with us.  Pray specifically for Kevin Blake.

5.  Pray specifically for God to clearly direct Lynn Dawkins to work with us.  She has been accepted but needs more confirmation from the Lord.  She is a former STINTer and would be an incredible addition to the SV team.

Merry Christmas!  Thanks for praying!

Venture Corps Prayer Requests

Hi,
Please pray for the following requests for Venture Corps:

1.  Pray for our recruiting efforts at the Campus Ministry Christmas and Winter Conferences.  Pray that God would lead us directly to students whose hearts He has prepared to work with us.  Pray that God will provide staff for next summer from this year's conferences.

2.  Pray for our recruitng efforts at Passion in Nashville, TN.  They are expecting around 15,000 college students and recent graduates.  Pray that God would lead the most interested students to us and that several would join our staff next summer.

3.  Pray for Howard Crutsinger and Joe King, a database developer, as they spend countless hours this week working on getting the Venture Corps database finished and accessible.  This is incredibly significant because it would exponentially increase our ability to effectively track with our recruits at a local level and give them needed SV experience.  Pray for wisdom and insight for them as they work through the countless issues that this will involve.  Joe has traveled to Orlando to spend this week with Howard getting the database up and running so pray that they are able to get all the major (and most of the minor) issues resolved so we can all start using the database more effectively.

Thanks for your prayers for laborers.

Warren

P.S.  An update for you:  Several weeks ago I asked you to pray for Nancy Wallace as she attempted to get all the January applicants through the process by early December.  As of about a week ago, all the applicants had a decision and 11 are planning on attending New Staff Training in January.  Thanks for your prayers!

Catalytic Ministry / MPD Request

Dear Friends,

As we venture forward to embrace our new alignment with the Campus Ministry, I would appreciate prayers for new ministries to be raised up in existing areas where the Campus Teams are already working. May the Lord bless our new partnerships and renew the vision for high school movements everywhere. Also pray for the Lord to continue to raise up my MPD. God bless you!

VC Prayer Requests

Hi everyone,
Thanks for praying for the enlisting of new manpower.  Here are some specifics:

1.  Please pray for the summer beach project partnerships that we are pursuing with the Campus Ministry.  Currently we are partnering with the Myrtle Beach project and would like to expand that to as many as three others but that is entirely dependant (from a human perspective, of course) on the leadership from each of those projects and their regional HR folks wanting to partner as well.  Some projects are naturally better fits than others so pray that God leads us to those who are the best fit, and that these come together very quickly.  We've been working on them since August and three are still in various stages of discussion.  Pray that God will bring them to (good) closure very soon.

2.  Pray for our recruiting efforts at the Campus Christmas/Winter conferences.  Pray that we would connect with those students who have a heart for a SV type of ministry and that God would lead us to many of those that are graduating soon (i.e. May or December '06)  Pray, also, that the conferences are a great time of bridge and relationship building between us and the Campus Ministry staff.

3.  Pray for Nancy Wallace as she tries to finalize acceptance decisions on the applicants for January New Staff Training in the next two days.  There are still several folks who need answers and some may still be missing pieces of their application.  Pray that everyone's references would come in today and that final decisions could be made quickly.  Pray for wisdom for her.

Thanks for your prayers!

Prayer update from Coxes

Thank you so much for all of your prayers.

Our first lunch time meetings with FCA went off great today.  The first lunch was a little slow but second lunch we had a great group of students come out.   There were about 30 or so by the end of lunch and the students helped lead by emceeing, praying and helping with flyers etc.

Please continue to keep these meetings in your prayers.  We will have them on Tuesdays during both lunches.

We have also challenged the students to what we call "Go Wednesdays” which is an emphasis on Wednesday’s to reach out to their classmates.  G. O. stands for Good News Outreach or Gospel Outreach Wednesday’s.  Please join with me that many would be bold with their faith.

Praise God also that we spoke with the woman in charge of the cafeteria and found out we can contract with them to provide Pizza for our lunch time meetings at a significant discount and less hassle.  PRAISE GOD.

God is on the move and it is so much fun to share with you how HE is working.

Thanks for being in the battle with us.

From Jeremy Dollar

Tomorrow at 10:30 AM Albanian Time (+6 from EST) Csaba, the Hungarian
Director here, will be speaking. The SV Staff face difficult circumstances
in that because of some teenage suicides last year, unrelated to
Evangelicals, Christian groups like SV can no longer go on campus. Please
pray for the Lord to encourage the SV staff here, and that the Lord will
refresh them with new ideas and ways to minister to teens here. SV has
started an after school Coffee House, which meets Monday to Friday from
3:00-7 PM. It's a great way for Non Christian students to come and hang out
and the Staff seek to share Christ with them.

Next Saturday, November 19th, at 10:30 AM I have been asked to speak! God is
good, please pray for me as I talk about "An American Visa," or basically
the idea that many Albanian youth look to getting a visa as their hope, and
not the Lord who can meet all of their needs.

Bartelt's are needing some prayer support

Wow, where to start. To say the least life has become a bit unsettled for the Bartelt's lately. Brenda's father has been battling prostate cancer for several years now, and has recently taken a turn for the worse. It now appears that he may only have weeks left, if that, so Brenda and Mason (4 mo. old) left Orlando this past Friday night to fly up to Ft. Wayne, IN to spend time with her family. Of course that left Scott as a single parent, so I bailed out and headed to my parents house in Tallahassee, just in time for the twins to come down with a virus (fever, congestion, etc). I'm returning to Orlando tonight (Wed) as the boys are greatly improved. Of course Mason had the same virus coming on and has become rather sick himself up in Indiana. Unfortunately that has limited Brenda from spending time with her Dad.

Brenda's Dad is certainly our biggest concern at this time. He's only about 60 and that is one of the things that really makes this hard. He certainly needs a miracle at this point. But if this is to be the beginning of the end, then we really want him to enjoy quality time with the family in the days, and weeks to come. We think he is likely a believer, but pray as you feel led.

Pray also for wisdom and discernment for Brenda and I as we make decisions about where we need to be and how to best utilize our time in the weeks to come. I (Scott) am trying to manage taking care of the twins while still giving some attention to my work with the Coaching Center and raising the support necessary to keep the bills paid. The boys are definitely my priority right now, but I'm also trying to figure out what alternatives I have to keeping them cared for.

Venture Corps Requests

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your prayers for laborers!  Here are a few things to be praying about.

1.  We have 15 applicants now for January New Staff Training but only 3 are completely through the process and accepted.  The other 12 are still in process.  Some are missing parts of their application packet.  Others are just waiting to be evaluated.  Please pray for Nancy Wallace as she leads the team that needs to finalize all the acceptances by or before December 1st.  We've had way more than typical apply for January so there's a lot of work to be done in a short amount of time.  It's a great problem to have, but . . .

2.  Please pray for Jacklyn Baker and Sarah Beth Watkins who were at the Preview weekend.  They both are very interested in serving with us.  Pray that God will make His direction for them very clear.  (You can also pray that direction would be for them to come work with us.  They would both be great additions to our team!

3. Pray for the ongoing development of our partnership with the Campus Ministry.  Their leaders have been very eager to find ways to help us win.  Pray that we could find many "Win-Win" scenarios where we could be a blessing to them as well.

Thanks for your prayers!

SV Roswell Prayer Needs

A couple things on our hearts that we'd like to ask your prayers for:

First, please pray for our upcoming Band Outreach this Thursday evening,
11/3, that many students with open hearts would come and that many would
come to know Christ and get plugged in.
Secondly, please pray for a potential Varsity Football Outreach that God
would bring this together according to His timing and purposes and that
Chris Reis (GA Tech Football Player, former RHS football player) would call
us back and be available to come speak at this outreach.

Thank you so much for your prayers,

VC requests

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your prayers for the Headquarters Preview weekend.  We had a great time with the 8 recruits (4 male/4 female) who attended.  One had already applied to join our staff in January but said that this weekend really confirmed that direction for him.  Another guy is now in the application process and a third is strongly considering an internship.  Three of the four women who attended are serously considering joining staff, two of them next summer.  So it was a big success.  Obviously we need to continue to pray that God will move them all through the decision making process, through the support raising process, and ultimately all the way to report at HQ.

Please pray for Brandon and Jared, both of whom have applied.  Pray for clear direction for Julie, Jacklyn and Sarah Beth as they seek God's direction for their life.

All these would be terrific additions to the team at headquarters.  Just keep praying for them.

Thanks!

New York City. We spent the afternoon today all over Manhattan, as
about 90 students came in to preview the college. SV led the charge to

fearless. Pray for the seeds that have been planted. Pray for
Genovani, an Italian on holiday, who put his faith in Christ. Pray also
that a good number of these seniors would find there way back to King's
College next fall.

Recruiting Prayer Requests

Hi everyone,
This is an exciting week and we have several things for you to be praying about:
1.  Pray for the 9 students attending our Preview Weekend from Thursday night until Sunday morning.  6 of the 9 are available to come on staff by next June, 8 of the 9 by next December.  Pray that the weekend is visionary and that they really connect with the vision and with many of our staff and the roles that they would potentially fill.

2.  Pray that all 9 students would make it to Orlando and that none would back out at the last minute.

3.  This is a great group of students who could make a very significant contribution to our team at Lake Hart.  Pray that God would lead many of them to join our staff.

4.  Pray for our staff at HQ as we interact with the students and share the vision of our individual departments as well as the overall vision of SV.

5.  On a non-Preview note, praise God for 11 applicants for our January New Staff Training.  This is the most applicants we've had for a mid-year training in a long time.  Pray that any other applicants that are in process would get all their materials in by very early November (deadline is November 1).

Thanks for your prayers!

Yours for more laborers reaching more teenagers for Christ,

Jeremy from Albania

Howdy from Tirana, Albania
Hey everyone thanks so much for praying for the outreach a week and a
half ago! The LORD totally blessed. There were about 50 students there,
and even more toward the end of my talk. It was interesting trying to
communicate the gospel without using any really "spiritual" words like
saved or even "sin," (without explaining it a bit), but the Lord was
gracious! Praise God! Your prayers in America were a GREAT
encouragement to the SV director here. He's from Hungary and is friends
with Mark Sanders! Comment cards were passed out, but apparently the
question about receiving Jesus was worded a bit confusingly so they (SV
staff) don't quite know the response yet. They have started a coffee
house after school (3-7pm) at the New Life Buildding here, so please
pray that some of these students who heard the gospel would respond.
This coffee house is a way that the Staff here are using to build
relationships and share Christ! God is so good; also please pray for me
as I prepare to teach Evangelism at the Center for Christian Leadership
in December. God has also given me a humbling and neat new ministry
responsibility. I'll begin to be trained to become the Office Manager
at the Albanian Encouragement Project, an amazing network of
evangelical ministries here in Albania, including Christar who I'm now
serving with, and also New Life! I'll list the links below and pray
that God would give me understanding as well as use me to encourage the
missionaries that come in (one of the job responsibilities). I might
have the opp. to speak at SV again in Nov, but I'll post more about
that later. Lord bless! See some of you over Christmas.

in His grace,
Jeremy

Outreach in San Diego

Tonight is our bi-monthly Big Monday Outreach.  Nancy Wilson is in town to speak at it.  Pray for many kids to come, hear the gospel and respond.

Also a student who is praying for the whole school by dividing the yearbook up is talking to the principle today or tomorrow to see if he can do it for a senior project.  I don’t thing the principle is a believer so I pray it would touch his heart and make him open to Christ.  This also could turn into a hot issue on campus as some are resistant to him praying.  Pray that Jesus would become and issue.

prayer

We can not do it alone!

Pray that we would admit our need for community and find a group of people we can be completely honest(good or bad) with where we are in our life.

Pray for Jesus to become an issue in the US on College, High school and Junior High Campuses across the world.

Pray that God would give us new strategies/partnerships to reach every student on planet earth.

Pray that God would bring 10 - 15 college seniors to each of the upcoming Life Options conferences in our Region Nov. 5-6 and Nov. 11-12. and they would come on our staff.

I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

Please pray for my transistion into full time work with the students.

Erica Perry

Please pray for a college senior, Erica Perry, who was on the Myrtle
Beach Summer Venture project this summer and is interested in joining
our staff team. She is currently on a vision trip to Atlanta right now

Pray for Peter - Meant4More Contact

Peter, a young man in the Los Angeles area, has exchanged four e-mails with me. He is staunchly atheist, and my brilliant intellectual arguments (ha) have not moved him at all. Ask God with me to melt this young man’s heart and enlighten his eyes to see the truth. 2 Cor 4:3-4

prayer request for my mom

I would like to ask for prayer for my mom (Lori).  She is 3.5 years into her diagnosis of pulmonary fibrosis (same as Dr. Bright had).  Pray that I will be able to be as supportive as possible. That she would be willing to accept the help and realize she can't do everything.  Pray that she continues to listen to her doctors and follow their plans for her treatment.  Pray that God will give us a clear direction about the possibility of getting a lung transplant, and that we will see His answer as His will and not ours. Thank you so much for your prayers!

to get the remainder of my support raised up so I can report back to work
full time. I need around $500 in monthly support. Please pray that God will
go before me and connect me with the right people. Pray for safety too...my
family is going with me.

Welcome to the SV Prayer Blog!

Dear Staff,

We wanted to welcome in a season of prayer for each other and our ministry with this new tool - the Student Venture Prayer Blog!

You might want to bookmark this page so you can come to it quickly in the future.

The idea behind the Blog is very simple: Whenever you have a prayer request, send an e-mail (from your hand held device, cell phone or regular e-mail account) to our special prayer request email address. To get that special email address, ask Kevin Young to send it to you. If we were to post it here, then we'd get spam posted daily as prayer requests. When you send your message to the special email address, your subject line will become the header and the body of your message will become the text posted on this blog.  Please do NOT forward a message to the address OR use a signature line (your name, e-mail address, contact info). Feel free to use the "comments" feature to respond to any request with a specific prayer.

A special thanks to Kevin Young for directing our prayer strategy and to Howard Crutsinger for his expertise to enable this new site.
You will be hearing more very soon about different ways to join us in concerted prayer. May the Lord bless our lives as we humbly come to Him in prayer.

Headquarter's Preview Weekend - Orlando, FL

Student Venture has a special weekend planned in Orlando, FL on October 27-30. It is designed for people with skills sets that would be beneficial to our headquarters. Recruits will get a close look at the roles we have available and consider whether God may be leading them to work with us.

Some of the roles highlighted include working in media, website design, finance or accounting, computer services, conference services, operational services and administration, even working with our international mission department.

The preview starts on Thursday night, October 27th and concludes on Sunday morning, October 30th. The entire weekend is free to all who attend.

Pray we have enough qualified applicants to accept 20 participants. Pray they catch a hold of the vision of our headquarters and are able and desire to join our staff.

[if you know of anyone who should apply, tell them to visit the site above and apply asap]
